The Raleigh Community of Secular Carmelites was founded in 1986 as a daughter of the Community of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Washington, DC. This is a group of Catholic lay faithful who have embraced a vocation within the Carmelite Order while remaining in our families, workplaces, and parishes.
We are united by:
A commitment to daily mental prayer
Devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Fidelity to the teachings of the Church
Fraternal community
Ongoing spiritual formation
Our community gathers regularly at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raleigh for prayer, study, and fellowship.
We are spiritually united with the Discalced Carmelite friars and nuns throughout the world and share in the charism renewed by Saint Teresa of Ávila and Saint John of the Cross.
